Nyau King, Tay Grin appointed London Political Summit and Awards Ambassador

The Nyau King, Tay Grin, has reacted to his appointment as the London Political
Summit (LPS) and Awards Ambassador 2020.
The London Political Summit and Awards has appointed the celebrated Malawian
superstar as an ambassador for the 2020 summit, representing Malawi and the
entire Southern Africa (SADC).
The conferment of this award is planned to take place in London during the 5th
Anniversary of the Summit’s existence.
Addressed as H.E. Limbani Kalilani (his real name), the Nyau King’s appointment
is made in full recognition of his immense contribution to the causes of youth
emancipation for social change for the enhancement of democratic leadership, and
to the role of music and culture in social transformation in Malawi.
“We are convinced that you would be a great role-model and an inspiration to
many young people in Malawi and across Southern Africa. We earnestly hope for
your acceptance of this award and look forward to working with you, as our
Ambassador of hope for young leaders in Southern Africa region,” reads part of
the appointment letter addressed to the Nyau King by Dr. Josephine Ojiambo,
Former Deputy Secretary General Commonwealth, Rotary International
Representative to UNICEF and the United Nations office in Nairobi and Global
ambassador for the LPS.
Accepting the appointment, Tay Grin, who is also a politician, Musician,
humanitarian and Entrepreneur, says, “For the London Political Summit to have
me as an Ambassador representing Malawi and the SADC is something huge. It’s
not only a great honor for me, but for the entertainment industry, the Youth of
Malawi and the youth of SADC.
“I commit to continue championing the course and space for the youth in politics,
arts and business in Malawi and Africa through this appointment, my music,
businesses and humanitarian initiatives. These are values that are dear to my heart.
“I am aware that this latest appointment comes after the same institution awarded
me the “Emerging Young Politician Award last year 2019. I don’t take both
recognitions for granted.
“Having access to that platform is really a big thing because I will have access to
very influential people from different industries across the globe. I want to
maximize on all these avenues. Having access to investors, politicians and
musicians at a top level in different countries will help me bring about
development to Malawi by helping the government achieve some of its goals.”
He adds: “Let me also take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the
decision taken by the new administration to recognize arts at the Presidential level
by creating an advisory office in Arts and for appointing an experienced and
proven artist; Hon. Lucius Banda to be the first holder of that office. Hon. Lucius
Banda has been there and an experienced challenges art face in Malawi and knows
where to start.
“I call upon all artists in Malawi to work with the Presidential advisory office on
Arts for the betterment of arts in Malawi. The President has created the opportunity
for us and on behalf of all the youth and creative in the country, I say thank you
Your Excellency. Let us all embrace and make use of it regardless of political
affiliations.
